Happy New Year and THAT word...

Belated Happy New Year!

I started pondering my aims for next this year about a week ago over supper with friends and after a few moments thinking, the word 'Thrive' came into my mind. To me it signifies improvement in all areas of life : health, friendships, family relationships, money, adventure and of course, work. I do think I have been a workaholic in the last few years but not in the most effective way. I probably shouldn't list all the things I need to change here!

To thrive you have to be your best, create optimum circumstances in which this can happen, so changes need to occur before you can really do that - unless of course you are in such a great place that you simply want the status quo but more of it.

So for 2014 I need to EVOLVE :

"develop gradually"
synonyms:develop, progress, make progress, advance, move forward, make headway, mature, grow, open out, unfold, unroll, expand, enlarge, spread, extend

Reading the definition I have certainly started to evolve but I've always been a go with the flow, grab opportunities sort of a person with a short term goal from time to time.

I think it's probably time to set myself some targets, shake off old ways of doing things; question if there's a better way. I need to explore. Really change my default behaviour and let go of a lot of the past.

How to do this? I am not really sure yet - navel gaze like hell!? Pay some experts? Make lists and not lose them. I have countless notebooks with my thoughts in. It's about time I read them and collated the best ideas. That would be a start :) When we think about it we all know the basics, eat well, exercise and sleep enough. Get those right and it's so much easier to work out the rest. I've always struggled with an absolute definition of what I want and I know there are many reasons for this. Anyone else?

Perhaps 'Thrive' is for 2015.

Have you got a theme or word for 2014?
